August 15, 2005

Board Meeting

President Doug Schroeder called the meeting to order at 2:30 pm of the Iowa State Aberdeen Angus Breeders Association. It was held at the Iowa State Fair Grounds, Des Moines, IA. Board members in attendance were: President Doug Schroeder, Vice President Kirk Brandt, American Angus Board Member - Robert Schlutz; North Central - Ted Greiman; Southwest at Large - Joe Becker; Northeast at Large - Cody Jensen; Southeast at Large - Eric Schlutz; Dave Henderson - Southeast; Coy Claussen - Eastern Iowa; Chris Miller - Northeast Iowa; Butch Neumeyer- Beef Breeds Council; Erie Driscoll - Hawkeye; Jim O’Neill - Denison; Ed Wiederstein - Botna Valley; Danny Bradshaw - Tall Corn; Stan Leaders - River Basin; Danny Purdum - Iowa Southern; Eric Johnson - Warren Co.; James Fisher, Don Laughlin, Paul Vassen and Tricia and Colby Holmes, Executive Secretaries.
 

Business Conducted

The agenda and minutes from the April meeting were read and accepted.

Tricia Holmes presented the treasurers report on the business she has conducted. The Association currently has 1 CD valued at $22013.75. In the First National Bank checking $2946.20. Payables totaled $1990.03. Accounts Receivable valued at $6135.50. Neumeyer made the motion to approve the treasurers report as given. The motion was seconded by Driscoll. Motion carried.

The seedstock committee briefed the board on the expo judge being Frank Jackson from Minnesota.

The 2006 Preview was discussed. Tall Corn Association will host the event scheduled for June 16-18th, 2006 in Eldora.

The 2005 Tour was also discussed. It will be held on September 24th, 2005 in Mabel, MN, with Viewlawn Farms hosting the event. It will start at 10:00 with some games for all ages.

The bull test committee and the board discussed the bull test index change, due to the association eliminating retail product. O’Neill made the motion to change the index to 30%ADG, 20%BW EPD, 20% YW EPD, 10% Milk EPD, 10% WDA, and 10% $G. The motion was seconded by Henderson. Motion carried.

The beef breeds council briefed the board on the live web cast that will be available for the expo sale. The expense will be picked up by the Beef Breeds Council. O’Neill made the motion to endorse the webcast idea for expo. The motion was seconded by Bradshaw. They also briefed the board on change in the sale time to 10:30 am.

The next meeting will be held in Ames on October 2nd at the Iowa Cattlemen’s Building. Driscoll made the adjourn, seconded by Becker. Motion Carried.
