Iowa Beef Expo Show & Sale Report

 Show Report:
Angus exhibitors led 119 lots at the 2008 Iowa Beef Expo Angus Show & Sale, February 13 in Des Moines, Iowa. Jeff Dameron, Lexington, Ill., evaluated the 73 bulls and 46 females that sold the following day.
 

• Rick Thelen, Afton, Iowa, consigned the grand champion bull. SF Foresight 7241 is a January 2007 son of S F Foresight that first won early junior calf champion.

• Moffitt King Ranch M708 claimed reserve grand champion bull. Moffitt Angus Farms, Colfax, Iowa, consigned the February 2007 son of EXAR Phenomena 4037 that first won intermediate junior calf champion.

• MRCC Kinochtry Beauty 716 won grand champion female. M R Cattle Company, Wilton, Iowa, consigned the May 2007 daughter of Triple J Design of Foxcross that first won intermediate calf champion.

• Burns Angus, Oxford, Iowa, consigned the reserve grand champion female Burns Delia 7014. She is a February 2007 daughter of S A V 8180 Traveler 004 that first won early junior calf champion.


Sale Report:
It was standing room only in the Penningroth Sale Center at the 89th Annual Iowa Angus Show and Sale held in conjunction with the Iowa Beef Expo. 120 head were paraded with a total sale gross of $378,200 to average $3152 per nose an increase of $636 per head. 73 head of bulls were in the mix averaging $3497 an increase of $915 over last year while 47 females averaged $2615 an increase of $276 over last year.
 

• Topping the bull sale was Lot 127, O’Neills Prime, a 3/8/06 son of ONeills Expedition consigned by ONeill Angus Farm, Logan, IA. The bull sold for $9,500 to Dave Loos, Mitchell, NE.

• The second top selling bull were Lot 106 GW 112 Precision 704. The January 3th, 2007 son ofLCR Precision 112 was consigned by Gary Wall, Baxter, , Ia. The bull was sold to Sioux Pass Angus, Lodge Grass, MT for $7750.

• Lot 97- SF Foresight 7241 son of SF Foresight, presented by Rick Thelen/Skarda Angus, Afton, IA sold to Don DeVore, Seymore, IA for $7000.

• Lot 75 -RAF George Foreman KMH 1557, a 2-6-07 son of TC Foreman 016, presented by Katelyn Holmes/Russell Angus Farms sold to Bill Behnken, Massena, IA for $7000.

• Lot 63 - Moffitt King Ranch M708, a 2/24/07 son of EXAR Phenomena 4037 presented by Moffitt Angus Farm, Colfax, IA sold to Ed Wiederstein, Audobon, IA for $6900.

• Lot 117 - GW 112 Precision 608C, a 10/3/06 son of LCR Precision 112 consigned by Gary Wall, Baxter, IA sold to Martin Angus Ranch, Wray, CO for $6500.

• Lot 121- R&R Century Decade 644 consigned by Wes Ruby, R&R Stock Farm, Greene, IA for $6500. Sold to Lyle Olson, Red Oak, IA.

• Lot 110 - TB Freedman 701, consigned by Tyler Becker, Diagonal, IA for $6000. Sold to Anna Hunziker, Hurdland, MO.

• Lot 131, KM Great Taste, consigned by Kent Musfeldt, Coon Rapids, IA. Sold to David Franks, Port Bryon, IL.

• Lot 130 - B/S 338 Right Time 6959 - consigned by Bradshaw and Swenson Angus, Hubbard, IA for $4400. Sold to John Dean, Glenwood, IA.

• Top selling female was Lot 59X - MRCC Kinochtry Beauty 716, a 5/1/07 daughter of Triple J Design of Foxcross, consigned by MR Cattle Co., Wilton, IA She sold for $6250 to Chelsey Drysdale, Wabasha, MN.

• Second top selling female was the Lot 26- Circle K Lady Erica 707-222 a 2-8-07 daughte of TC Freedom 104, consigned by Circle K Angus, Ida Grove, IA. To Dan Snell, Culter, IN for $4500.

• Lot 13 - JAF Primrose 723, a 3/10/07 daughter by EXAR Lutton 1831 from Jensen Angus, Plainfield, IA to Nick Anderson, Holstein, IA for $4500.

• Lot 46 - Larson Blackcap 6094, a 3-29-06 daughter of BT Ultravox 297E. Bred to TC Rito 416. From Will and Bonnie Larson to Steve Allen, Orient, IA for $4000.
